Theo James, born Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis on December 16, 1984, in High Wycombe, England, is an English actor. He rose to fame as Tobias “Four” Eaton in The Divergent Series films (2014–2016) and has starred in various genres from horror to science fiction. James attended the University of Nottingham for philosophy and trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His career spans television (Golden Boy, The Time Traveler’s Wife, The White Lotus) and film (Underworld series, Archive). He is married to actress Ruth Kearney, with whom he has two children, and is known for his humanitarian efforts
